Khaolak Merlin Resort

Khaolak Merlin Resort sits on the beach at Khao Lak, an hour or so north of Phuket airport, in gardens that run down to the Andaman Sea. Its rooms open onto that green: private pools at the beachfront villas, balconies over the gardens elsewhere. The walls had to bring the garden inside without turning a quiet room into a busy one.

Whiterose supplied the wallpaper for the resort's 2026 renovation of its 45 Superior Rooms, as well as for its pool villas.

Two designs, one idea

In the pool villas, palms and drifting leaves are printed in soft grey wash on the wall above the bed. The image fades towards the ceiling so it reads like the shadow of a tree on a bright afternoon. In the guest rooms the scene is fuller: banana leaves, palms and climbing plants in muted greens, with monkeys and toucans half-hidden among them. It is the garden outside the balcony, drawn as a story.

Both are custom printed wallpaper in the literal sense. Each design was scaled to the wall it covers and printed for it, so it fills the timber frame behind the headboard edge to edge, with nothing cut off at a joint.

Why Premium Vinyl

Both designs are printed on Premium Vinyl: a smooth, matt vinyl that holds deep, true colour and wipes clean. It is hung with paste rather than a self-adhesive backing. In a beachfront resort that matters. Sea air, humidity and air conditioning that runs all day are exactly what lift a peel-and-stick edge over time, and a pasted wall has no edge for them to work on.

The rest of each room is in Premium Vinyl too, in plain tones that leave the printed wall to do the talking. One material across the room means housekeeping cleans every wall the same way.
