Kids Studio

Most children's wallpaper is loud, and most of it is outgrown within two years. Kids Studio is drawn the other way. The dinosaurs are soft grey and sage rather than lime and orange, the rainbows are hand-painted and well spaced, the safari animals wander across a cream ground with room to breathe, and the birch wood is delicate enough that it would look at home in any bedroom in the house. It is a book designed to be lived with, by parents as well as children.

What parents usually ask us first, though, is what is in it. Every design here is certified to the lowest indoor air emissions class, made on FSC-certified non-woven, and carries the RAL-GZ 479 quality mark — the German wallcovering standard that limits heavy metals, plasticisers and solvents. That is a meaningful thing in a room where a child sleeps ten hours a night, and it is why we put the certification at the top of this page rather than in the small print.

There is one piece of pure delight too: four designs are printed with luminous ink. Scattered stars, and a cosmos of rockets and planets, charge in daylight and glow green after lights-out. Several photographs below are shot in the dark so you can see exactly what that looks like — it does not show at all in the flat swatch.

Sixteen designs come instead as 1.59 by 2.80 metre scene panels: a dinosaur jungle, a castle on rolling hills, a bear asleep on the moon, a fawn in a wildflower meadow. Each is one full-height image rather than a repeat, which turns a single wall into the whole room's idea. Forty-six plains are colour-matched to the prints, so the other three walls come from the same book.

Everything is printed in Germany by AS Création on non-woven backing — it holds its dimensions through a Bangkok wet season, wipes clean, and strips off dry in whole lengths when the dinosaurs are finally outgrown. Papers are 10.05 metres by 53 centimetres. We handle measurement and installation, in English and Thai.
