Luxury bedroom wallpaper in Bangkok: where to put it, what it costs

The bedroom is the one room nobody else has to like. That makes it the best place in your home for a wall with real personality. If you've been searching for luxury bedroom wallpaper in Bangkok, you've probably found plenty of pretty pictures and very little else. No prices, no roll counts, and not a word about what your air conditioner gets up to at 3am.

So this guide covers the practical side too: which wall to paper, how pattern and colour behave in a smaller condo bedroom, how to keep it happy in the cold and damp, and what it actually costs, installation included.

Start with the wall behind the bed

In most bedrooms one wall is plenty, and it's almost always the one behind the bed. It's what you see when you walk in, it frames the headboard, and it stays behind you when you're lying down. So you get the drama without staring at it all night.

Four walls is a different mood entirely. It wraps the room, softens the corners and feels wonderfully private. The catch is that a busy pattern on every side can get restless. If you want the whole room papered, choose something quiet: a texture, a fine line drawing, or a plain.

A good middle path is to put a print on the bed wall and a matching plain on the other three. The Cosiness collection by AS Création is built for this. Will a dark or large pattern shrink a small condo bedroom?

It's a question we hear a lot. Honestly? A dark, enveloping pattern won't make a small bedroom feel smaller so much as cosier. In a room that only needs to hold a bed and a good night's sleep, cocooning is rather the point.

The trick is to use it on the bed wall and keep the rest calmer. Scale matters more than colour. A large motif needs a bit of distance to read properly. In a narrow room where the bed is a metre from the opposite wall, a mid-scale or finer pattern often looks more considered. Scale here just means the size of the motif, and it's worth seeing a big sample on the wall before you decide.

Air conditioning, condensation and that musty smell

Bangkok bedrooms run their air conditioning for hours, and that matters for wallpaper. The AC cools the wall. Where warm, humid air meets a cold surface, moisture forms, and a small sunless bedroom with the door shut is where a musty smell tends to start.

Three spots to check before you choose:

• A headboard against an outside wall. That wall is cold on one side and humid on the other.
• An AC unit or drain line above the bed. A slow drip or a sweating pipe will find the wallpaper first.
• A bed pushed tight to the wall. It blocks airflow, so moisture can sit there quietly. Leave a small gap.

The short version: if your bed wall is an outside wall, choose a non-woven paper and let the fitter check the wall before anything goes up.

Counting the rolls for a bedroom

Here's the maths, step by step. A standard roll is 0.53 metres wide and 10.05 metres long. Wallpaper goes up in drops, the full-height strips from ceiling to skirting. To count them, divide the wall width by 0.53.

At a typical 2.3 m condo ceiling, one roll gives you four drops. A pattern with a large repeat (the distance before the design starts again) can reduce that, because the fitter has to line each strip up with the one beside it.

Let's take a 3 × 3.5 m bedroom with a 2.3 m ceiling:

• Whole room: the walls run 13 metres around, or about 30 m² before you take off the door and window. That's roughly 25 drops, so around seven rolls.
• Bed wall only: a 3–3.5 m wall is about 7–8 m². That's six or seven drops, so two rolls.

What luxury bedroom wallpaper costs, with installation

Installation is where the bedroom maths gets interesting. It's ฿1,800 for the first six rolls, then ฿250 for each additional roll, with part rolls counted as whole ones. So in our example room:

• Bed wall (2 rolls): ฿1,800 to install.
• Whole room (7 rolls): ฿1,800 + ฿250 = ฿2,050 to install.

Papering the whole room adds just ฿250 in installation. What really moves is the material, because you're buying roughly four times the area. As a rough guide, a 7–8 m² bed wall in our premium range comes to about ฿2,800–4,500 in wallpaper, and about ฿8,400–9,600 in Versace. The real figure depends on your measured wall.

Already have curtains you love? Take a photo of them in daylight and bring it along. We'll pick a paper that shares one colour with the fabric rather than trying to match it exactly. A near-match tends to look like a mistake, while a shared colour looks deliberate.

Glue smell, cleaning and renting
